The nearly new, 2016-rebuilt Fokker F-27 Friendship model boasts enhanced geometry, textures, and features. The Fokker F-27 is a twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger airliner designed by Fokker in the early 1950s. Making its maiden flight in November 1955, this tail-heavy aircraft underwent modifications and received a fuselage stretch to address balance issues. From 1958 to 1987, over 900 Fokker F-27s were built, with an additional 400+ produced by Fairchild Hiller in the US under license, including a stretched variant called the FH-227. Post-retirement from passenger service, many aircraft were converted to cargo/express package services but were retired by the end of 2009. The Fokker F-27's legacy led to the development of the Fairchild Hiller 227 and further design developments such as the Fokker F-50 and F-60 series.
