Experience the nearly new Fokker F-27 Friendship model, meticulously rebuilt in 2016 with enhanced geometry, fresh textures, and additional features. Constructed near scale and boasting detailed external design based on available drawings, this model comes fully textured with materials for the displayed livery. The Fokker F-27 is a twin-engine turbo-prop commercial airliner developed by Fokker in 1950 and took its first flight in November 1955 with Hugo Burgerhout as pilot. Due to tail heaviness, modifications were made, including a 3-foot fuselage extension before the CG, adding three seats. Production began in 1958 and continued until 1987, with over 500 built by Fokker and more than 400 produced under license by Fairchild Hiller as the FH-227. After serving as passenger aircraft, many were converted to cargo/express package services for FedEx. However, all such conversions were retired by the end of 2009, with very few remaining in service today. The F-27's legacy includes the development of the Fairchild Hiller 227, a stretched version, as well as the Fokker F-50 and F-60, further design developments of the original F-27.
