The Fokker F-27 Friendship model showcased here is almost new, having been comprehensively rebuilt in 2016 with improved geometry, fresh textures, and additional features. Built to scale (within a couple of percent in general dimensions) based on available drawings, this model boasts intricate external detailing. It's fully textured, comes with materials for the featured livery, and offers animateable features like ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudder, propellers, landing gear, and landing gear doors. The model is available in several formats, including 3ds, obj, lwo, asc, dwg, dxf, u3d, and obj. The Fokker F-27 is a twin-engine turboprop commercial passenger aircraft designed and developed by Fokker in 1950. It took its maiden flight in November 1955 under the control of Hugo Burgerhout. Due to being tail-heavy, it required modifications, including a 3-foot fuselage stretch ahead of the CG, adding 3 more seats. Production began in 1958 and continued until 1987, resulting in over 500 Fokker F-27s, with an additional 400+ built by Fairchild Hiller in the US under license, including a stretched version called the FH-227. After serving as passenger planes, many were repurposed for cargo/express package services, mainly by FEDEX. However, all such models were retired by the end of 2009, with very few remaining in service currently. The F-27 served as the basis for the Fairchild Hiller 227, a stretched version, and led to further design developments like the Fokker F-50 and F-60s.
