This nearly new, 2016-rebuilt Fokker F-27 Friendship model boasts high-quality geometry, state-of-the-art textures, and new features. It's built almost to scale, with meticulous attention to detail based on available drawings. The model comes in various formats, including 3ds, obj, lwo, asc, dwg, dxf, u3d, and obj files. Animateable features include ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudder, propellers, landing gear, and landing gear doors. The Fokker F-27 is a twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger aircraft created by Fokker in 1950. It took its first flight in November 1955, piloted by Hugo Burgerhout. Due to tail-heavy design, a 3-foot fuselage extension was added to improve balance and accommodate three additional seats. Manufactured from 1958 until 1987, over 900 Fokker F-27s were produced, with an additional 400+ built under license by Fairchild Hiller in the US as FH-227 variants. After service as passenger planes, many were converted for cargo/express package duties, particularly by FedEx. However, all such conversions had been retired by the end of 2009, leaving very few remaining in service. The F-27's success led to the development of Fairchild Hiller 227, a stretched version of this aircraft, and ultimately inspired further design evolutions: the Fokker F-50 and F-60.
