The Fokker F-27 is a twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger airliner developed by Fokker in 1950 and first flown in November 1955. Due to tail heaviness, it underwent modifications, including a fuselage stretch for better balance. From 1958 to 1987, over 900 Fokker F-27s and FH-227s were produced, many of which later served as FEDEX feeder cargo aircraft before being retired in 2009. The F-27 led to the creation of the Fairchild Hiller 227 and inspired further developments like the Fokker F-50 and F-60.
