In 1915, the German air force introduced the Fokker E.I as its first fighter aircraft, which later became infamous as the Fokker Scourge. Notably, Manfred von Richthofen, the top-scoring WW1 ace, used an all red Fokker Dr.I triplane for some of his 80 victories between 1917 and 1918.
