The Fokker DVII, designed by Reinhold Platz for the Luftwaffe, was considered the best WWI fighter plane. Produced in 3,300 units before the war's end, this sturdy, fast aircraft could outmaneuver most allied fighters with top speeds of 124 mph. Its design arose from a competition involving top German pilots; Manfred Von Richtoven recommended it after improvements. In combat, the DVII was difficult to shoot down and easy to fly. After WWI, Germany surrendered these planes to allies who used them until the 1930s worldwide. The US Army Signal Corps even utilized Fokker DVIIs for air mail delivery in the 1920s. The model boasts detailed exterior and cockpit features, animateable controls, and a Mercedes engine.
