The Fokker DVII was the epitome of World War I fighter planes, designed by Reinhold Platz for the Luftwaffe. Produced in 3,300 units before the war's end, it boasted a top speed of 124 mph, outperforming most allied fighters. The aircraft was a result of a competition involving Germany's best fighter pilots who recommended it after improvements were made. Manfred Von Richtoven had initially deemed its predecessor, the V11, dangerous but after modifications, he endorsed the DVII. In combat, the sturdy and maneuverable plane was difficult to shoot down and easy to fly. After the war, Germany surrendered the planes to allied forces, who used them into the 1930s worldwide. The US Army Signal Corps even employed Fokker DVIIs for air mail delivery in the 1920s. This detailed model features animateable parts like landing gear, rudder, ailerons, and cockpit controls, and showcases the Mercedes engine's top-end detail.
