The Fokker DVII was considered the superior fighter plane during WWI, designed by Reinhold Platz for the German Air Force. Over 3,000 were produced in 1918 before the war's end. Known for its strength, maneuverability, and speed (124 mph), it outperformed most allied fighters. The aircraft's design was a result of a competition where top German pilots tested various models. Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, favored the DVII after modifications were made to its predecessor, leading to an initial order of 400 planes. In combat, it was tough to shoot down and easy to fly. After WWI, Germany surrendered the DVIIs to the Allies, who used them into the 1930s worldwide, including for US air mail delivery in the 1920s. The model features detailed exterior and cockpit, animateable parts (gear, rudder, ailerons), and accurately replicates the Mercedes engine's top-end detail.
