The Fokker DVII, considered the finest fighter plane during World War I, was designed by Reinhold Platz for the Luftwaffe. Produced in 3300 units before the war ended, this aircraft boasted impressive features such as speed of 124 mph and maneuverability. Impressively, it outperformed most allied fighters. Its design emerged from a competition where German pilots tested and recommended the plane, with Manfred Von Richtoven playing a key role in its improvement. In combat, the DVII was difficult to shoot down and easy to fly; its impact on the air war left a lasting impression on the allies. After the war, Germany surrendered these planes to the allied forces, which used them until the 1930s worldwide. The US Army Signal Corps even employed Fokker DVIIs for air mail delivery in the 1920s. This detailed model features an animated Mercedes engine and various controls within its cockpit.
