History The Fokker D.VII was a top-notch German World War I fighter aircraft designed by Reinhold Platz of the Fokker-Flugzeugwerke. Germany produced around 1,700 D.VII aircraft in the summer and autumn of 1918. In service, the D.VII proved itself to be an extremely effective aircraft. The Armistice ending the war required Germany to hand over all D.VIIs to the Allies at the conclusion of hostilities. Surviving aircraft saw continued widespread use with many other countries after World War I.
