Foetal Brain
myminifactory
The fetal nervous system - specifically the baby-to-be's brain and spinal cord - is one of the first systems to take shape. Just 16 days after conception, a fetus's neural plate forms, laying the foundation for your baby's brain and spinal cord. It extends and folds in on itself until that fold transforms into a groove, which then morphs into a tube - the neural tube. The parts of Baby's Brain responsible for different functions are: Cerebrum: This is the biggest part of the brain, responsible for thinking, remembering, and feeling. Here you'll find the cerebral cortex and its various lobes (including the frontal and temporal lobes). Cerebellum: The area in charge of motor control. Brain stem: It drives many of your baby's vital functions, including heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure. Pituitary gland: This small gland releases hormones into your body that control growth, metabolism, and more. Hypothalamus: This area manages body temperature, hunger, thirst, sleep, and emotions.
