I chose to electrify my telescope and I'm upgrading many of the parts I built years ago when I had limited tool options. My outdated focuser was a helical model made from Polyvinyl chloride. Now, with a lathe and a 3D printer at my disposal, I can tackle new challenges. It's possible to use four springs combined with the four M3 screws for improved grip. In this instance, swapping the M3x16 screw for an x25mm version would provide an even smoother experience. If you decide to utilize the printed tube, which I created solely for testing purposes, you can wrap a piece of heat shrink tubing around the threaded rod to minimize damage to the tube body. 4 624zz bearings 2 MR105zz bearings 4 M3x16 screws (or four x25mm using springs) 4 M4x12 or 16 screws (I used 12mm studs) 1 M5x80 (or 90) threaded rod 2 M3 studs 6 M3 nuts 2 M5 nuts 1 1 1/4 inch, 1/8 thickness aluminum pipe Edited #1 The previous knob was oversized and has been replaced with a 20mm version.
