Focus Ring for Canon Zoom lens
thingiverse
This DIY focusing ring slides smoothly over the Canon D60 kit lens, which features an 18-135mm zoom lens with a 67mm diameter. For added security, simply attach the standard machine screws and use super glue to hold the nuts in place within the hexagonal slots. Securely fasten the bolts for optimal tightness. Please note that this tutorial specifically addresses the Canon 60D kit lens with its accompanying 18-135mm zoom lens, featuring a 67mm diameter focus ring measuring approximately 2.965 inches (or about 75mm). However, the 2.98 inch (or approximately 75.6 mm) dimension of my designed focusing ring allows for effortless sliding over the lens, making minor adjustments with a sanding tool necessary for smooth operation. The provided printing settings include: - Rafts: The value can be omitted without affecting the print quality. - Supports: There is no need for additional support material as this design sits directly on the print bed. My creative process began by carefully measuring the lens diameter using a caliper and inputting the exact dimensions into solidworks, where I experimented with various parameters to perfect my DIY focusing ring design.
