The Focke Wulf Ta 183 was a prototype high-speed interceptor/fighter featuring mid-mounted 40° swept wooden wings, a raked fin, and angled horizontal tail planes. Unique elevons on the wings controlled both pitch and roll while small tail surfaces were used for trimming only. Armament consisted of four MK 108 30mm cannons in the nose, with optional wing-mounted pylons and a fuselage ordnance bay. This versatile design could accommodate various payloads, such as bombs, drop tanks, or up to four X 4 air-to-air guided missiles. Although never constructed, it served as an inspiration for the influential MiG-15 fighter aircraft.
