Foam Top Surfboard base plate
thingiverse
If you're prone to mishaps on the waves, your surfboard might be flying off course more often than not. This base plate replacement was designed specifically for my 9-foot CatchSurf OdySea LOG, which I had been repeatedly setting down on the roadside or in the sand while unloading - the foam glued onto it basically disintegrated and fell off every time. This plate is tailored to fit my board, but feel free to size it according to your own surfboard's dimensions. To maximize surface area, position the jagged side towards the interior foam of your board. Secure this base plate using hot glue to attach it to the foam core, then apply even more hot glue around the edges to seal it in place with the soft top. It worked for me without a hitch! Note: Some repair videos on YouTube suggest using epoxy for fixes like these, but I've found that hot glue is the only adhesive that will flex with the board - even when submerged in cold water. It may not be the most elegant solution, but it's cheap and effective, just like a foam top should be!
