Foam Tool for RC Wheels 1/10 Scale (DIY RC Foams)

Some RC trucks/cars use foams and they work really good. The problem is that commercial foams are getting quite expensive these days. That is why I decided to make my own tool to cut my foams: DIY! So far I've created 2 models for 1.9 inches wheels: - 11.5 x 4 cm / foams (for Traxxas Canyon Trail 1.9, Pro-Line BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX 1.9) - 11 x 3 cm foams (Pro-Line Interco TrXus M/T 1.9) It's a very simple design and works quite good in my opinion. To make you own foams DIY you will need: - Foam (3cm or 4cm width) - Parts included in the model 4x C.stl 2x disk.stl 1x Interior A.stl 1x Interior B.stl - Screw + nut 8mm diameter - Cutting knife How to cut the foam: 1. Using a sharpie draw a circle using one of the disks you printed. 2. With the cutting knife cut the disk making a square with the circle in the middle (we will use the tool to make it look nice later). 3. Place the foam you just cut between the two disks as if you were making a foam sandwich. 4. Use the Cs you printed to hold the disks in place (we will remove them later). 5. Make a hole in the center of the foam through the disks. 6. Put the screw through Interior A, then through the foam and after that put Interior B on the other side and secure it with the nut. 7. Remove a couple of Cs from a side and using the cutting knife, cut the border outside the disks. 8. Put the Cs you removed and do the previous operation with other Cs until the foam is round. 9. With all the Cs in place, remove the nut, the screw and the interior disks. 10. Using the cutting knife cut the center of the foam. 11. Remove all the Cs and there you go! I hope you find it useful.
