Foam Knight Rx - Minimal Hardware
prusaprinters

I remixed the wonderful Foam Knight RX https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4861137 and made it use less hardware so that I could self source. And for fun. I changed all the screws to M3 type, as I have a LOT of them from 3d printer builds. Although I had to keep the 6-32 square nuts, I could not find a metric replacement for those after many tests.

I still recommend that you buy the official hardware kit! I am sure it would shoot much faster.

Changes:

Added dowel, plunger tube, barrel as 3d printed parts. Hope your printer is tuned really well! Make sure to do flow calibration with your filament.

The RR Logo from the photos is not in the final model here.

Added grip scales to make it more comfortable.

Widened trigger for comfort as well.

Eliminated required 907 O-Ring

8-32 ½" → M3*12mm

8-32 7/8" → M3*25mm SOCKET HEAD! (must not be button head)

8-32 square nut, 8-32 hex nuts → M3 hex nuts

6-32 ¼" → M3*6mm button head (use thread locker on these)

8-32 2" → M3*50mm

6-32 3/8" → M3*8mm

6-32 1" → M3*25mm

So the only hardware beyond the M3 screws is (2x) 123 Buna O-Ring, a larger Main Spring and smaller Utility spring (I got a pack of springs for $5 from home depot). Some grease for the O-Rings.

Works great printed in PLA with no supports. I did print the grip scales in color changing ABS and acetone smoothed them.
