foam glider
thingiverse
The blue-core foam glider, created for tossing with my son, was fashioned using a 1/2" thick foam cut by an oversized shapeoko or by hand from a printed template. Lowes sells this foam at around $10 per sheet, specifically "1/2-in x 4-ft x 8-ft Extruded Polystyrene Insulated Sheathing." Assembly is done with hot glue, which melts the foam if not applied properly; a balanced M5 bolt (30mm) was added to the nose for improved trajectory. Unfortunately, attempts at creating a model in SketchUp resulted in a mangled STL file that slic3r couldn't handle, but kisslicer may provide better results, yet to be tested.
