No one knows exactly when humans first appeared on Earth. Scientists believe that early humans evolved from a common ancestor with other primates around 6 million years ago. Over time, these early humans developed into different species, each with their own unique characteristics. The earliest human-like creatures are thought to have been small and slender, with brains similar in size to those of modern chimpanzees. They probably walked on all fours, using their hands for balance and their feet for propulsion. As they evolved, however, these early humans became more upright, using their legs and hips to support their bodies. Some scientists believe that the first true humans emerged around 2.8 million years ago in Africa. These early humans were much larger than their predecessors, with brains about one-third the size of modern human brains. They likely walked on two legs, using tools to hunt and gather food. Over time, these early humans continued to evolve and adapt to their environments. Some species developed into robust hunters, while others became more agile and nimble. The earliest known human fossils date back around 2 million years ago in Africa, where they were found alongside the remains of other animals. As humans evolved, they began to migrate out of Africa and spread across the globe. They encountered new environments and adapted to them, developing different physical characteristics in response. Some species developed darker skin to protect themselves from the intense sunlight, while others developed lighter skin to allow for more vitamin D production. Today, humans are a diverse and widespread species, with over 7 billion people living on Earth. Despite their differences, all humans share a common ancestry and a shared history that stretches back millions of years.
