The FMS 1700mm Piper PA-18 Super Cub wing-mount posts are prone to breakage - well at least my dad's broke. Unfortunately, the mounts are glued to the foam fuselage and a new fuselage costs $70USD+shipping. Here is a replacement part for the rear-ward post/mount that is thicker and hopefully stronger than the original.

Notes:

You will need to remove the old post/plastic mounting parts from the foam fuselage prior to install using mineral spirits or acetone to dissolve the glue

You may need to shave some foam off the fuselage to ensure proper fitment of this part since it is slightly thicker than the OEM part

Minor sanding/filing of the post corners may be required for a good fit inside the wing cavity

Rather than embed a brass nutsert like the OEM design, my approach includes a nut-trap so you can drop in an off-the-shelf M3 hex nut and re-use the original M3x16mm bolt. You can glue it in place with a few drops of CA (superglue) or hot melt glue after test fitment of the wing.
-You'll need to glue the new part on with FoamTac or similar adhesive spray.
Reference Links:

Plane

OEM assembly video

RCGroups thread-Piper-PA-18-Super-Cub/page42)

Print instructions

Category: R/C Vehicles Summary

The FMS 1700mm Piper PA-18 Super Cub wing-mount posts are prone to breakage - well at least my dad's broke.
