Flying Sub

I drew inspiration from Tobz's Flying Sub, specifically attributed to sgillford_at_gmail.com. The original design was notoriously challenging to print due to its unique shape. When printed at a 75° angle with custom support under the hull, layer lines would fade away and the port-side vent on the starboard side would disappear. To overcome these issues, I rebuilt the model from scratch, adding front windows for a more authentic look and incorporating interior details such as seats, consoles, reactors, and rear hatches. I designed an aft panel that can be printed separately and then snapped into place, providing a seamless finish. I print it at 75° with custom support under the belly to minimize layer lines and ensure structural integrity. To add a personal touch, I paused the printing process multiple times for interior painting, which unfortunately doesn't show in the images. To enhance the display experience, I created a bespoke stand with cut-outs that allow the sub to be easily snapped in and out of its holder. The result is a visually stunning model that showcases my attention to detail and commitment to precision. It took countless hours and multiple prints to perfect this design, but the end result was well worth the effort.
