Flying Extruder Platform for Delta Printers
thingiverse
Platform to mount a Flying Extruder on a Delta Printer. I designed it specifically to fit the Voron Pocketwatch extruder mod for Nema-17 stepper motors by GSL12 on my FLSUN Q5, but it will work just fine with other delta printers. The holes in the platform increase structural stability while keeping it lightweight and can be used as a means to fix the wire harness to. The mount for the stepper motor has grooves on the inside for enhanced rigidity. I also included a generic motor mount to use it with other extruders. A standard BMG extruder might fit as well, but you will have to mount the extruder upside down (or mirror the platform before slicing) to accommodate for the idler lever. The Pocketwatch extruder uses regular BMG gears, but includes a clutch mechanism to simplify loading/unloading of filament. I use simple rubber bands as the connection to the carriages and they work well enough (at least with the compact Q5). However, there are several mounting clamps (to use with springs) for carriages of different printers such as the QQ-S available here on Thingiverse. The motor brace is fixed to the main platform by four M3 buttonhead screws and ø 4 mm heat-set inserts. Being modular, your can easily adapt the brace to your own geometric needs to fit any extruder you like. A 25 mm pancace Nema-17 stepper motor has sufficient torque for the 3:1 gear reduction and the very short bowden tube. The stock stepper will work however, albeit being significantly heavier. I obtained the appropriate corner spacing from the "FLSUN QQ-S - Flying extruder" by vostraga.
