This is a handcrafted toy designed from scratch in Fusion 360. Its unique design was inspired by various concepts gathered from around the web, but unfortunately, the original files were not available for reference. Recreating this toy was an excellent opportunity to hone my intermediate-level skills in Fusion 360 and 3D printing techniques. The provided design file is parametric, allowing users to customize several features such as the number of wings, guide threads in the driving mechanism, angle of incidence, and more. Check out the kids having fun with this toy: https://photos.app.goo.gl/j6FvvBe1h2XqeotW8 The handle is designed to accommodate two 608zz ball bearings, ensuring a smooth rotation of the rotor. However, no string handle is included. As for optimizing performance, I can't provide specific disc settings, as it seems to be a trade-off between various factors such as moment of inertia, angle of incidence, and number of blades. A combination of three blades with a high angle of incidence often yields impressive results but may result in the toy flying too high! When it comes to 3D printing this toy, two critical settings under CURA are the infill line directions and top/bottom line directions. These should be set to match the number of wings and object symmetry (e.g., 120° for three wings).
