Flying Bear Tornado Magnetic V6 Hotend Mount
myminifactory
This is my design for a magnetic hotend assembly tailored specifically to the Flying Bear Tornado 3D printer. As a budget-friendly kit, the stock hotend on the Tornado falls short of expectations, prompting me to scrap it before even plugging it in and dive headfirst into designing my own solution. With years of experience under my belt from working with multiple 3D printers, I've come to realize that effortless access to the hotend is crucial for hassle-free maintenance. In the past, I've encountered frustrating situations where I had to disassemble more than necessary just to service the hotend, a problem this design tackles aggressively. Not only does it feature an open design for easy viewing and accessibility, but the magnetic base also makes removal of the entire assembly possible, allowing for seamless work on it away from the printer itself. The magnetic base boasts another advantage: effortless swapping of the hotend assembly. I'm already planning to create variants like Volcano and Chimera, with swapping in a volcano being particularly appealing. This design also incorporates a part cooling fan and relocates the X-endstop from the H-carriage side to the hotend assembly itself, mimicking standard printers' configurations. A screw-on endstop bump is included for securing the endstop on its original frame position. The chosen magnets are 10x2mm round disc magnets, which should be press-fitted into place (they were for me). A 40x40mm fan and a 50x50x15mm turbo blower will provide optimal cooling performance for the hotend heatsink.
