Fly Trap for Mason Jar

Fly Trap for Mason Jar

This assembly of parts can be put together along with a wide-mouth (88 mm rim) canning jar and metal band to create a fly trap. You will need to add bait of some kind in the jar to attract flies, and a plastic bag liner helps keep things clean. To assemble, first secure the base portion of the trap to the jar by tightening the metal band. Next, on the cover, press three clips into the rectangular sockets. Finally, clip all the pieces together. This model was designed for an 88 mm rim jar. For other sizes, you will need to scale the model proportionally. The bases of the clips fit snugly into the cover but results may vary. I originally designed the cover and clips as one piece, but the clips were too fragile because of the direction of the layers. The renderings were created using Blender 2.82a.
