Here's a new spin on the old Fly Swatter we've all had or are about to have. I've got a fly problem at home that just wouldn't quit, and I didn't want to spend my money on some generic Fly Swatter, so I took matters into my own hands and designed one with a little personality added to it. Since I print with PLA, I used that for mine, but this design would be perfect for a flexible filament or dual extruder printer - just imagine a fly swatter where the fly is a different color! My Swatter is built like a tank; it kills flies in their tracks while they're still flying. After your print job is complete, all you need to do is grab an old metal coat hanger and transform it into the handle. I took my wire, bent the hook off below where the twisted part starts, straightened out what's left with some pliers, looped the end of the wire around my caliper box and twisted it in to make the middle section. Once that was done, I trimmed both ends to an equal length, bent them into place so they lined up perfectly with the two holes on your Fly Swatter and slid them right in. You might need some epoxy glue to hold those two parts together (luckily I didn't, but we're all different here). My design is a little bigger than most household fly swatters out there, but that gives you a better aim when it counts - plus it just looks more cool. If you think the size is a bit off for your printer's output then you can scale it down within your slicing software; however don't forget to resize those two holes where the wire meets your swatter because they will also shrink during printing - if that happens, you might need to go back and re-drill them until they're good.
