Fly Rod Holder

It works - it's not perfect, but it gets the job done. The design isn't ideal, won't hold every reel and rod in place, but it functions as intended. For now, I'm attaching the holder to my fishing/kayaking pdf vest using zip ties. I printed it with PLA, but soon I'll try an ABS print. This design doesn't fit all reels/rods and has a long print time of around 10 hours. However, it fits my 6 foot 5/6 wt rod and reel as well as my 9 foot bamboo rod, which uses the same reel. Unfortunately, it won't accommodate my 9 foot 7-8 wt rod/reel. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Robo 3D Printer Model: R1 ABS + PLA Model Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Infill: 50% Notes: A simple print with a long time requirement. Custom Section: I managed to break it! However, I was doing a sweep roll in a kayak without a rod attached but the holder remained on my pfd. Then I intentionally capsized again and exited the kayak using a cowboy re-entry. Somewhere during this chaos, the scoop that holds the reel snapped off. The holder worked fine for holding my rod so I could tie on a new fly or tippet. As long as it fits your rod and you're not flipping around in kayaks, it should work. The next one I print will be ABS, and I'll mount it with zip ties going up and down instead of perpendicular. A small turn nob for reel tension often got snagged on the zip ties.
