Fly Boy! The Unintended Consequences of Genetic Experimentation. The engineered "child" and ward of Dr. Kunaki, created to replicate the Goldblum effect, was an attempt to splice Musca Domestica and Homo Sapien DNA to produce a super being. While not considered a failure, Flyboy was far from a success, lacking the desired super strength and flight capability that his creator had envisioned. However, Flyboy did demonstrate a unique intellect and tenacity for life that captured the heart and mind of Dr. Kunaki, allowing him to stave off destruction like many of his predecessors. Despite living happily for a time, Dr. Kunaki's obsession with his work soon consumed him, and he tired of Flyboy. Flyboy was sent to private school, where Dr. Kunaki still visits on occasion, holidays, and creation days, treating him to "ice cream." The model is designed to be printed on an SLA or DLP printer, hollowed out to conserve material. The model is broken into two parts: the head and the figure. For optimal orientation on the print bed, two small vent holes were added to the head of the character, which will need to be patched. There are also vent holes in the heels of the character, designed to accommodate pegs for a base or other supports. A basic tutorial on patching holes in SLA 3D prints is available online (www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-Ey9B...). The model stands at 98mm tall and was printed using a Form 2. It requires approximately 10ml of resin, with a print time of around 10 hours at 25 µm resolution.
