Fluval Spec V Divider
thingiverse
I've got a Spec V and loved it so much that I went back to the store and bought another one. My wife, however, used the opportunity to pick up some more Betta fish, but we soon realized they wouldn't be able to coexist in harmony. To address this issue, I designed a divider to split the tank into three separate sections, each with a capacity of approximately 1.6 gallons. I printed out these dividers, secured them in place using clear aquarium silicone and some tape, and then used PEX tubing and fittings from the hardware store to extend the filter inflow to the other parts of the aquarium. Next, I added Flora Max, some plants, and rocks to each section, with plans to introduce the fish soon. Additionally, I transferred some Frogbit from my existing tank to provide the new inhabitants with a sense of security and overhead cover. UPDATE: As for the issue of the fish seeing each other, it's not uncommon for them to swim towards the divider when they notice movement in an adjacent section. On occasion, we've observed them flare at one another a few times a day, but fortunately, there's ample space and hiding spots to prevent any prolonged confrontations. Two out of the three fish are currently building bubble nests, while the youngest member spends most of its time in the plants. So far, I'm pleased with how this setup is working out, finding it enjoyable to watch the fish while I work at my desk each day.
