Fluval Flex Aquarium Cooling Fan 40mm

After I bought a Fluval Flex 35l/9g (okay... just because it looked nice) I quickly noticed some flaws and/or opportunities to tinker :-)\r\n\r\nSo I started to redesign and add some things. This is Part 1 of the project.\r\nPart 1.1 has an 80mm fan (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3671625).\r\n\r\nThe whole project will cover cooling, heating, light control, water refill (and whatever idea I will have in addition) using an ESP micro controller and without any destructive modifications at the tank hardware.\r\n\r\nI wasn't happy with this opening in the lid without any way to close it (apparently for feeding). And in addition, the LED in the lid becomes quite warm and heats up the water pretty quickly:\r\n\r\n![temperature curve](https://thingiverse-production-new.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/45/6a/02/03/9c/curve.png "temperature curve LED off/on")\r\n\r\nSo I designed a cooling fan adapter for this which stays in place without any screws/clips/glue.\r\nI am using a 5V 40mm Noctua fan to cool my tank (controlled by an ESP8266 and temperature reading from a DS18x20 sensor - I will publish a mount for the sensor soon).\r\nI went with the Noctua because it is quiet and it normally doesn't need much to cool the water.\r\n\r\nFor fixing the fan to the adapter, you'll need 4x M3x12mm screws. The holes in the adapter are 2.8mm, and the screws will self-cut their threads when inserted first time.\r\n\r\n**Please keep in mind: the cooling effect is better with the fan mounted to suck the air from the surface and blow it outside - but more water will evaporate in a shorter period of time**.\r\n\r\nPublished project parts so far:\r\n+ Fluval Flex Cooling Fan Adapter 40mm\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3640543\r\n+ Fluval Flex Cooling Fan Adapter 80mm\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3671625\r\n+ Fluval Flex Filter Mod\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3639353\r\n+ Suction cup temperature sensor mount for DS18x20\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3640844\r\n+ Water level controller hose clip for Fluval Flex filter compartment\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3675744\r\n+ Fluval Flex Intake Pre-Filter / Baby-Safe \r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3730658
