Flute cork setting gauge

Flute cork setting gauge

thingiverse

A gauge for testing and setting the cork position in your flute. The theory is, that for a standard western concert flute, the flute's internal diameter at the centre of the embouchure hole, and the distance from the centre of the hole to the cork should both be the same dimension: 17.3 mm. The tool has a testing plug with the same diameter as the embouchure hole, one end fits snugly inside the flute, reaching the exact centre of the hole. The other end of the tool is precision-crafted to fit tightly around the cork and features a clear mark 17.3 mm from the end, making it easy to test and adjust the cork distance with accuracy. To ensure accurate results, verify that your printer produces the correct dimensions on demand. Ideally, inspect the diameter end of the gauge with a precise measuring device such as a micrometer or digital caliper for optimal performance. If the diameter is slightly oversized, use wet-and-dry sandpaper to precision-sand it down to size, or reprint the gauge applying scaling on your slicer or printer and adjusting the dimension in the parametric OpenSCAD source file accordingly.
