Flush mount, clip on acrylic side panels to enclose Makerbot Replicator 2 style 3D printer
thingiverse
These are acrylic panels for side openings on the Makerbot Replicator 2 style 3D printers and clones that look exactly alike. The holders can be cut from laser-cut acrylic or plywood, or they can be 3D printed in a process called extrusion printing with a printer and hot melted plastic as the material. The clips firmly attach a 3mm thick transparent panel made of acrylic or poly-carbonate to the Replicator 2's 6mm PVC walls by fitting flush against them. The clips hold the panels securely, are easy to take off, install straight, and don't need any extra tools or equipment at all. These side panels help keep the internal temperature of the printer at the right level and prevent cold drafts from entering while you work. They also stop dust, hair and loose debris like small particles and dust that could affect print quality, pets like dogs and cats, and other airborne particles that can mess with your printouts from reaching inside. Choose either a DXF file to cut with laser cutter for plastic panels, or a STL file for 3D printed holders. Assembly is easy once you have these components and all other necessary parts to create the entire printer box made out of metal material - such as Aluminum sheets; if needed.
