I replaced the cracked acrylic board mount that came with my FLSun Kossel kit immediately after installation because I accidentally bumped the board while setting the printer in place, causing the corners to crack off. The exposed look was a pleasant surprise, but I wanted to make some improvements. Firstly, I moved the aluminum mounting holes closer to the center of the piece so they wouldn't be as likely to snap off in the future and added an alignment bar to hold the board stiffer in place on the frame. Secondly, I added standoffs to the mounting holes for the board. The original acrylic was 5mm deep and the solder points dug into it, forcing it to flex if the screws were tightened too much. By making the board 3mm deep and the standoffs 2mm tall, I achieved the same height as the original board while giving enough room so that the solder points wouldn't dig in. Lastly, mainly for cosmetic reasons but also to reduce plastic usage, I added a window to the back of the mount for the Makerbase logo to show through.
