What's all this? How can something like this possibly be useful? "You want a chocolate cake with roses made out of frosting? Sure! I'll pull up a YouTube video the night before your party with all of your friends at the trampoline park and decorate that cake to the max." "Thanks, Dad!" So begins my story. The night is dark, the mood is tense, and my blood sugar is about to skyrocket. Just baked the cake, frosted it, and set aside a whole pound of frosting to make buttercream roses - but how do I even do that? Well, you're ahead of me right now! "Alexa, show me a video on making buttercream roses." "Sure thing!" As I watch these videos taking up most of the time, detailing their life stories and explaining why cakes are so great, they all center around having something called "Flower nails" to rotate the rose while squirting out your favorite fat-sugar concoction. No Flower nails here, though! Did I stop? Give up? Try convincing my daughter that a plain cake with a car and some stick figures would be fine? Not me! Humanity didn't give up when things got tough, did they? Joey Chestnut didn't quit when Kobayashi downed 69 hot dogs as the record. Neither could I! To Solidworks I went, modeled something quick based on Amazon's rough dimensions, and less than an hour later, I coated the top with wax paper and started making rose-ish monstrosities until they finally came out "kind of okay!" Enjoy everyone! If you want to see a video on how to make actual roses, check this one out (not my video, just someone who helped me in my time of need): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-4GhfdxWwI
