Flower Iris Box

My first functional Iris Box boasts six rotating doors that swing open with ease when you turn the dimpled collar. The collar's smooth motion unlocks the doors via connecting links, allowing access to the box's interior. Each piece of the box is carefully printed separately and then assembled with clip-together hinges that require no additional supports. I've since designed a plethora of other Iris boxes, which can be found on my Thingiverse design page: https://www.thingiverse.com/BrienAllison/designs. You'll also discover an upgraded version of this original design, the Flower Iris Box V2, at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3665797. My premium designs are available on MyMiniFactory, where you can visit my user page: https://www.myminifactory.com/users/Brien%20Allison. One fascinating aspect of this Iris box is its ability to be opened with one hand when the parts fit together seamlessly. What's more, it has a surprising knack for catching insects and spiders. To ensure that the STL files are printed correctly, they must be printed at a layer height of 0.3 mm. This specific setting allows the hinges to clip together smoothly, thanks to ridges that vary with each 0.3mm layer. You can experiment with variable layer heights in your slicer to print some parts at a different layer height, such as 0.2 mm for higher print quality, while maintaining the required 0.3 mm setting for the joint sections. Some parts come in two versions: 1 and 2, corresponding to 0.4mm and 0.3mm tolerances for the hinge parts. This is due to slight variations in hinge dimensions depending on printer type, settings, or filament used. You can also adjust the fit of the parts using extrusion flowrate adjustment and hole/contour xy compensation, which are features available in free slicers like Ideamaker.
