Flower in White

Flower in White

Initially, I couldn't identify this object until I began photographing it. Its surface resembled that of a flower, which was predominantly white. Like a flower, this intriguing object was visually appealing when viewed from different angles. This unique design was my first attempt using "autobots" in Groboto - a distinctive 3D design tool. After several iterations, I scaled the design for printing, resulting in a print measuring approximately 75mm across that took nearly 7 hours to complete. To create this masterpiece, I employed ReplicatorG on a MakerBot Replicator2 with the following settings using white MB PLA: Infill - 10%, Layer Height - 0.200, Shells - 1, Feedrate - 40, Travel Feed - 55, and Temperature - 220. A raft with full support was used in the shown orientation. Cleaning up wasn't too difficult, but the bottom of the "petals" required a bit of attention.
