Florida, also referred to as "Land of Flowers," is the southernmost contiguous state in the United States, bordered by the Gulf of Mexico, Alabama, Georgia, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. Covering 65,755 sq mi (170,304 km2), it ranks as the 22nd-largest state and is home to approximately 20.98 million inhabitants - the third-highest population in the US.
