The Floralis Generica, a metallic sculpture, is located in the Plaza of Nations Unity, Figueroa Alcorta Avenue, within Buenos Aires' Autonomous City. The Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano (1917-2010) donated it to the city. Inaugurated on April 13, 2002, Lockheed Martin Aircraft Argentina provided materials for its construction. It is situated within a four-hectare tree-lined park and surrounded by paths that provide different views of the monument. The sculpture stands above a water mirror, serving both aesthetic and protective purposes. A stainless steel flower made from an aluminum and reinforced concrete skeleton gazes towards the sky, with six petals extending towards it. Weighing 18 tons and standing at 23 meters high, this sculpture was originally planned to be replaced by the Altar of the Fatherland on the same site years ago.
