René Frémin, born October 1, 1672, died February 17, 1744, was a renowned French sculptor who honed his skills at the prestigious Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture (Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture). Under the tutelage of esteemed masters François Girardon and Antoine Coysevox, Frémin excelled in his craft. In 1694, he achieved a major milestone by winning the coveted Prix de Rome for sculpture. This accolade paved the way for Frémin to take up residence in Rome from 1695 to 1699, where he immersed himself in the city's rich artistic heritage.
