Simple, minimalist pen holder with 4 pcs 3,5" diskettes (floppy disks)

If you print this thing, I will be happy to see your make in "Post a make".
If you find this even useful, you can buy me a Mr. Brown coffee ;-)

PayPal me: paypal.me/elcarloscz
BTC: bc1q6qz298fescrhxzfwknuysek4x0jzyrvy2lnnz0
ETH: 0x0b55c5DA1f22150A6DA3d0E87fB0674041F22446
LTC: ltc1qqvrng2wlc7kzv8f764372tjprt052unykv93dl
XRP: rPZNYxUyLYxsHK5dr3gaDv5uzAN5fgopjg
DOGE: DCz3cB8W9bgocPP2z6mcQbpuoynLmLzToy

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

i3 MK3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0,15 mm

Infill:

100%

Filament:
[

Verbatim PLA ](http://www.amazon.com/s?url=search-alias&field-keywords=Verbatim+PLA&tag=thingiverse09-20) White

Notes:

You need 1x bottom part and 4x top connector
There is no need of supports and I also never used rafts. Better is to run print with 0,15 mm or even 0,1 mm due some details to keep diskette in place. Be sure your filament is strong and flexible enough to get diskettes in holder. Prusament or Verbatim works well, but never try some PLA with bad layer adheasion (e.g. Polyalchemy Elixir) My all test was with 100% infill to make side parts stronger Post-Printing

Bottom part is slighly tricky, but bottom is just 1,5 mm height. So you should be able to bend it enough to get disk in place.

1) Open "re-write" switch to have square holes on both sides of floppy disk

2) First, fix on place right side of floppy disk (move it in from side, not from top)

3) Bend the bottom and (again) fix in another side of floppy disk from side, not from top

Opened re-write switch

Right side first and it has to move in from side, not from top

This is tricky part - bend (and prey) to fit anoter hole in holder
How I Designed This

Hail to the Verbatim!

When I clean our old office for reconstruction, I found unpacked box of Verbatim 3,5" floppy
disks. It is interesting. 20 years ago, I use whole 1,44 MB capacity of Verbatim diskettes to transfer some old DOS games to my PC. Today I have one spool of Verbatim filament in my makers space. So, why not merge history with present?

Goal was to make this in minimalist design. Point is diskettes, not plastic holder itself, right? I also wish to take advantage of different holes and curves which normally hold floppy disk in drive.

Category: Office
