Floppy Citizen W1D Belt
thingiverse
Vintage computers often struggle with aging hardware components, particularly those made from rubber which deteriorate rapidly. The model for a belt of an old Citizen W1D floppy drive is showcased here, also known as Siemens-Nixdorf PCD-4ND or Citizen LR102061. The belt measures 220mm in circumference, stands at 0.4mm in thickness and 1.5mm in width. It's ideal to be printed with soft PLA material. This design was motivated by a post on https://forum.classic-computing.de/forum/index.php?thread/18095-suche-disketteneinschub-f%C3%BCr-siemens-nixdorf-pcd-4nd-bzw-5nd/&postID=215425#post215425. Created with inkscape, the design was then extruded into 3D using my inkscape-paths2openscad extension available at https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-paths2openscad/releases/latest. The STL file requires openSCAD to render it, although openSCAD can also be used directly for this purpose. The final result was scaled up and down by a few mm in cura to achieve the perfect size.
