I had to reroute a heater vent that was going to be obstructed by furniture. The tab in the middle secures it into my vent, preventing my Roomba from dislodging it when it's cleaning underneath. You can adjust the gap width (if necessary) on line 59 of duct.scad. My setting is set at 8.5mm.
