These are my Floats for the E-Flite UMX Turbo Timber. I designed them like the original floats EFLUA1190 since they were not available to buy for long time. I printed them with PolyLight Foam PLA from 3dlabprint to save weight. Reduce the infill to get only few walls inside, see pictures as an example. I printed each float of 2 parts an glued them together wit CA glue, but there is also a single STL file available. When glueing 2 parts use small pieces of PLA wire as dowels in the holes between to align the parts. Unfortunately the weight is still twice of the original foam floats but they work. But it is very important to laquer them before use on water because the PolyLight PLA is not waterprroof! You can use thinned acrylic paint or a thin coat of epoxy. If you use them on snow laquering is probably not needed. There is a picture that shows the sizes for bending the wires. The floats were designed with the CAD tool "plasticity". Have fun! :-) Category: DIY
