Floating TableTop
thingiverse
Inspired by various models on the subject of tensegrity, I've designed another construction that embodies a conventional round table. The dimensions are: tabletop Ø150mm, base Ø80mm, height approximately 140mm. To boost stability, there are four clamping points instead of three. As tensioning threads, I used nylon thread Ø0.35mm. The attachment process is extremely tricky and only recommended for those with endurance; dental floss also does the job. I succeeded, you can too! Begin by inserting the middle parts first, ensuring a 20mm distance in the thread area. Then, insert the table top and table foot into their respective holes. To guarantee a perfect fit, precision is crucial; you may need to correct any discrepancies with a cutter knife or sandpaper. Next, apply superglue. A critical note regarding middle part insertion: it's common for the lowest layers to bulge outward, known as "elephant foot." This issue often arises due to slight changes in pressure parameters. To prevent this, carefully file or cut the edges of the hole to ensure a smooth build plate surface. Watch the video at https://youtu.be/zarCq6YIUgU for further insight into the printing process. Enjoy printing and admiring this fascinating structure!
