I decided to repurpose the snowflake design I created for earrings and transform it into a set of fun ornaments! Two of these share the same concept as the earrings, requiring only a filament swap at strategic layers. However, the third ornament is a special floating snowflake design that takes printing on tulle to the next level. To create this unique ornament, you first print the snowflake onto a layer of tulle and then add it to another print, resulting in the snowflake appearing to float inside the ornament. Each piece boasts a distinct color, adding an extra layer of visual interest. When working with this design, make sure to leave enough space for printing the floating snowflake or risk damaging the printer head. To accommodate this, I kept the total thickness of my ornament at 2.1mm and added the tulle halfway through the print process. My final print consisted of 10 layers, so I paused the print after layer 5 and resumed it after layer 6. To ensure stability, I printed all three ornaments with 100% infill, but I believe only the floating ornament truly requires this level of support. The other two may not need such a high infill percentage.
