This thing is awesome! I never actually tried printing the original but she didn't appear sea-worthy. I increased the scale to 120% to increase displacement (disclaimer: I'm not an engineer and know little about boat design. I know there are MANY factors that go into scale changes though). The superstructure also seemed like it would throw things off balance so I printed at 5% infill and added 80% infill left of the centerline as a ballast. I also added a bottom shell thickness of 3mm (probably too much) also as a ballast to keep things upright.

She sits low in the water and lists just a tad to port (too much ballast, maybe try 70% infill) but she floats well and doesn't tip easily. I know it needs some post-processing in the photos but I was more concerned with whether or not the thing would actually float or not.

After a series of vessels that only float hull-up, my son's bathtub fleet of seaworthy ships has finally begun.
