Floating floor drain cover
thingiverse
170mm diameter, 20mm thick design/logo cover for floor drains This lid floats if water enters the drain, preventing it from drying out too quickly normally. It looks nicer than the original. Also included is a blank cover for you to add your own logo (STL + STEP). The floor drain cover was designed to be printed with PI-ETPU 95-250 Carbon Black filament, which provides an exclusive look and favorable rheology due to its matte carbon black surface finish. Printing with this filament results in several benefits, including a nice print with minimal stringy cobwebs, and a cover that won't crack or break when stepped on. The conductivity of the material also helps reduce energy consumption since it doesn't require a heated bed for printing. To prevent the cover from compressing too much underfoot, internal ribs were added. This allows the infill to remain at 20%, making it a great job as a float. A 0.7mm nozzle was used at 230 degrees Celsius for this print. Using a bigger nozzle than the standard 0.4mm gives several advantages, including higher speed and lower pressure in the melted material. The biggest benefit is that parts come out much stronger due to better bonding between layers, making them more likely to be water-tight. Conductivity was not the primary driver for this design; rather, it was driven by surface finish and ease of 3D printing. However, conductivity does have its advantages. The design is intended for use in a restaurant friend designed, as shown at: palmiga.com/opening-night-2015-httpvastragard-se/. If that's you, consider these benefits of using PI-ETPU 95-250 Carbon Black filament: The material composition eliminates stringing/webbing issues. It has a hardness of 95 shore A and the carbon black filler makes for great print abilities. Carbon black is an excellent UV stabilizer; thus prints are built to last in harsh environments. The matte black surface finish provides a very exclusive look. The material feels nice and dry to touch. It's not too stretchy, making it perfect for timing belts and more. rubber3dprinting.com/
