Floating Filament Holder Using Recycled Prusament Spool Ends

Floating Filament Holder Using Recycled Prusament Spool Ends

I didn't want to just throw out the nice Pusament spool holders once they were finished so I designed this floating holder that accepts one end of the spool to create a nice aesthetic way to hold full rolls of new rolls and have them ready to load at a moment's notice! Simply print out the holder, then slide one end of a Prusament empty spool onto the back! It even has a little spline to prevent the end from spinning. You can see what this looks like mounted, mounted with an end, and mounted holding a filament spool in the first picture (I swear I didn't paint the walls to match it just worked out that way). Use a 2 inch plaster or wood screw to mount to the wall. Print instructionsI used the stock settings in PrusaSlicer for PET, but any material will work. Make sure you set the Fill Density to 10% and the Fill Pattern to "Honeycomb" to match that nice design of the Prusament spool ends. IMPORTANT: Set the top and bottom horizontal shells to 0, so that the honeycomb pattern actually shows (under Print Settings, Layers and perimeters, Horizontal shells, Solid Layers)
