Float Mounts for FT DTFB planes
thingiverse
Seeing that winter has arrived, I'm eager to maiden my FT Bronco before the snow sets in, so I've decided to craft floats for it instead of risking a belly landing. I constructed the 21" floats from this link: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2633026-Easy-Build-V-Hull-Foamboard-Floats To attach them under the twin fuselages, I created this project. As I type, I'm printing out the parts and plan to have one set printed normally and another mirrored for a total weight of around 16 grams. The clamps secure around the wire gear using M3x8 machine screws that screw in easily without needing a tap. To print successfully, the clamps require supports, while the bases need to be flipped upside down and should also use supports. The main mounts don't need any support and printed with 2 walls and 10% infill to keep the weight low. If you're using Flite Test floats, you can utilize the mounts and clamps without the bases. I'll upload a drawing of how to bend up to 3mm wire into shape - two horizontal pieces and one vertical piece to attach to each side fuselage. UPDATE: I've uploaded the fuselage gear mount and support mount to be installed below the center cockpit. The gear mounts allow for easy installation of normal landing gear when the weather warms up again...
